Techsmith Camtasia: JASP Software Tutorial
Description of Project
Providing instructions or step-by-step demonstrations via instructional videos can be really powerful because it allows learners to control the pace they learn, rewatch if needed, and it provides an engaging experience because learners are already used to visual and audio content. As I’ve heard before in the learning space: “no one ever watched a click-through e-learning at home when they wanted to learn how to fix their oven; they went to watch a video on Youtube.”
This video was designed for a college audience. The learning goal was to provide detailed step-by-step instructions on how to use a software program, JASP, to open up a file, analyze it, and identify the information they needed. This audience already had the files and other pertinent information ready to access from the course website so this video intentionally does not cover these steps. The goal of this video is strictly focused on teaching JASP to complete their final class project.
The voice-over work is done by me and was recorded and polished in Audacity. The final video was assembled in TechSmith Camtasia where effects such as blurs, annotations, and cursor effects can be seen. Snagit was used to create and edit certain visual assets for this project. Certain assets in the project, like the college emblem, color palette, music, were provided to me.
